Self Portrait
For this assignment we had to create a self portrait to depict ourselves by halving the image creating two different sides.
For this first piece I wanted something to fit in with my concentration which is mix of human emotion and dehumanization. In my previous works I played with geometrical shapes which I wanted to bring back combining it with the skill I learned in the color and transparency project.
For this image I feel it was much less successful I again fell back on old techniques I have used before and stuck with the colorful theme. I decided to use television static to depict the constant struggle one has to stay consistent and flow with the tide. One half of myself I’m constantly trying to fit in and be like all the rest becoming mere static in the process on the other I and unique and myself but I'm slowly fading away.
