For this assignment we were told to take a section of a work from an artist and use photos of textures to transform the piece. The textures used are all original and were originally for a seperate assignment. The photos below are variations of the original first image. Overall I feel I was not very successful with this project, my work seems sloppy and lacks a thought process I feel I could have done better but it shows my growth.

Re/composition

This was my original piece with all my textures turned on and my original shapes. With my textures I attempted to stay within the same color schemes with few pops of colors to catch attention. I did not stray far from the original painting because for me seeing a variation of a famous piece is interesting. The black background is very standard and keeps the attention on the textures.

For this version I kept all the layers in place but added a colorful background and cut away some of the textures. The yellow seemed to give the image a more of a flow it went well and made the piece seem more playful. The background also aided in creating space. The background makes the image appear emptier. The yellow also created a contrast between the textures and the negative space.

This was my second variation, I stuck with the yellow which really brought out the neutral tones of the textures and created a better balance throughout the piece. I turned off a few layers for this piece to attract attention to the details and change the overall image. I feel that this image came out the least successful the empty space makes the piece look incomplete and the image lacks balance.

This was the third image I created, here I used the gradient tool I layered three colors for the background again sticking to the first layer of yellow, but adding the complementary tones of green and red. For this variation I played again with empty space and allowing the background to come through more.

For this image I did not change much of the previous image. I kept the same layers but cut away parts of the green to reveal more red. I wanted to incorporate more red in the background but I did not want to overpower the image. The red in the background begins to create a pattern similar to Zebra stripes. I feel this image is less sucessful due to the background, it ends up taking attention away from the textures.

I finally strayed from the yellow background here and cut even more texture out. I played with the textures a lot in this image cutting out shapes and playing with size. This image was more daring then the others but I feel as though the empty space lacks balance. Overall for this piece I feel this came out the most sucessful due to the apperent expiramentation but again the image lacks balance and contains too much empty space.
